Following on from their sell-out Aldeburgh Festival concert in 2013, the New London Children’s Choir, under the direction of Ronald Corp, OBE, is delighted to bring to a London audience a selection of new music for children’s voices.

Innocence and Experience: a songbook for young voices, was one of a number of co-commissions by the Royal Philharmonic Society and the Britten-Pears Foundation in 2013 to mark the Royal Philharmonic Society’s bicentenary and Britten’s centenary. Inspired by Britten’s Friday Afternoons song collection, Sally Beamish, Charlotte Bray, Anna Meredith and Thea Musgrave each contributed two new songs to the song book which was premiered by the New London Children’s Choir, conducted by Ronald Corp in Aldeburgh.

Launch! by the young British composer Alexander Campkin, has been commissioned especially for this concert by Ronald Corp and the New London Children’s Choir, who have a commitment to commissioning new music for children’s voices.

Songs for now and then, by Jim Clements and Christopher Hussey, is a set of six songs commissioned by Robert Costin (Director of Music, Ardingley College) and the West Sussex Music Trust with support from Aldeburgh Music to be performed alongside Britten’s Friday Afternoons as part of the composer’s centenary celebrations. The first performance was on 22 November 2013, Britten’s centenary day.

The choir is delighted to welcome two of its former members, the countertenor Magid El-Bushra and soprano Madeleine Seale, who will contribute a selection of solo repertoire.
