A Musical Breakfast. A recreation of a Georgian musical breakfast, including chamber compositions associated with the Williams-Wynn family of Wynnstay, Denbighshire, who were the greatest Welsh patrons of the arts prior to Gwendoline and Margaret Davies of Gregynog.
Featured composers include John Parry (Bardd Alaw, 1776-1851), the Denbigh-born musician and entrepreneur who worked at the Vauxhall Gardens from 1809 and became the principal musical caterer for that delightful summer retreat, and Elizabeth Randles (1800-1829), the Little Cambrian Prodigy who created such a sensation when she performed at Vauxhall at the age of three that members of the Royal Family wished to adopt her.
In addition to this performance at 2pm, the full day programme for 12 June, 10am-4.30pm, will include presentations on Welsh composers at the London Pleasure Gardens. Recital tickets admit to all events. There will also be opportunities to purchase complementary refreshments in Georgian style prepared by Gregynog's new Head Chef Heiko Simmchen.
