The third of our Piano Sounds series that includes music by Chopin brings the young Cordelia Williams, one of this country’s most promising pianists, back to Cambridge. Her recital also includes Medtner’s third sonata, an intensely emotional work with some of his most stunning harmonies. A contemporary of Rachmaninov, Medtner’s piano writing is, if possible, even more beautiful and individual than that of his better-known countryman.
I cannot imagine a more perfect performance of the Liszt and Chopin — superb! - Antony Hopkins.
