  1. Contrasts for Violin, Clarinet and Piano Sz111 - Bela Bartók
  2. 3 Pieces for Solo Clarinet (1919) - Igor Stravinsky
  3. Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor - Claude Debussy
  4. Quatuor pour la Fin du Temps, 'Quartet for the End of Time' - Olivier Messiaen
Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time is one of the iconic works of the 20th century. Written, and first performed, whilst the composer was a prisoner of war, it is an ecstatic and transcendental vision of the apocalypse. It is prefaced by three key chamber music works of the past century. The Chamber Players is a new ensemble which draws its members from some of the major chamber ensembles and orchestras in the UK. They have come together with a common aim of presenting music in its social and historical context, which they do with lively introductions. An added attraction is that they give each member of the audience a free, pre-recorded CD at the end of each concert!
