The Pilgrimage, titled Ceremony & Devotion – Music for the Tudors, returns to the original aim of the tour: to restore wondrous and inspiring sacred music to the buildings for which it was written. The focus is on three masters of the Tudor period: William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and John Sheppard. All three composers lived through massive religious and political upheaval and yet, through the chaos, they managed to produce some of the most sublime and lasting choral music ever written.
