Leith Hill Musical Festival

The Friday night programme gives us our chance, as ever, to include the music of our great founder conductor. Vaughan Williams's setting of the Benedicite is a tremendous show-piece and a considerable challenge, as with so much of RVW's music, and should contrast well with the Gallic charm of Gounod's deliciously melodic St Cecilia Mass - a work which is not as well known as it deserves to be, but which will be thrilling, I'm sure, to sing and to hear. We are privileged too, to be able to give the world premiere of a new song for men’s voices, Rainfall, composed by Bob Chilcott.
