Two intensely-felt choral pieces sit side by side in this musical celebration of Easter. Both feature extraordinary finales: Bach’s four-voice chorale is considered one of the greatest of the composer’s canon, while MacMillan’s final meditation on the last utterances of Christ is a mesmerising and inexorably moving end to his masterpiece.
