Great choruses, beautiful arias and the drama of world opera will be brought to the region when a battalion of acclaimed artists, musicians and singers present the opera extravaganza, Highlights from World Opera in the beautiful surroundings of All Saints Church Llanelli on Friday 12th March.
The celebrated baton of maestro John Hywel Williams MBE will bring together the massed-voices of the Llanelli Choral Society, the Celtic Orchestra, bass Gary Griffiths, tenor Charlie Mellor, soprano Gail Pearson, pianist Jean Hywel and organist Huw Tregelles Williams. Introduced by the voice of Jeremy Hywel Williams, this major performance will feature magical moments from world opera and favourites such as the Soldiers’ Chorus and Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore, Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana, Brindisi from La Traviata, the Chorus of Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco, Aida’s Triumphal Scene and the Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin to name but a few.
We are all very excited about this performance, explains Director, John Hywel Williams. To perform such world popular opera choruses, coupled with beautiful arias in the atmospheric surroundings of All Saints Church – points to a wonderful evening for audience and performers alike. To hear all your favourite opera moments in a single performance is a rare and exciting opportunity indeed.
