  1. String Quartet No 3 in B flat Op 55 - (Franz) Joseph Haydn
  2. String Quartet No 6 Sz114 - Bela Bartók
  3. Quintet for Piano and Strings in A major Op 81 - Antonín Dvorák

The Endellion is renowned as one of the finest quartets in the world and it will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary during the 2013-14 season. Over the years, its schedule has included regular tours of North and South America and concerts in Australasia, the Far East, the Middle East, South Africa and every West European country. Everywhere, the Endellion String Quartet ‘sets the audience ablaze’ (Daily Telegraph) and ‘captivates concertgoers with a remarkable rapport, playing to each other with a sense almost of discovery, communicating to the audience on a level of unusual intimacy’ (Guardian).

The last of Haydn's three Op 55 quartets opens this concert, which continues with the last of Bartók's quartets. In this late period of exile in the USA, Bartók reverts to a more immediately accessible and expressive style which is startlingly communicative and strong. The Quartet will be joined by Cambridge University Student,Hok Kiu Johnson Leung, piano, for a performance of Dvorak's beautiful Piano Quintet in A. Johnson is an extraordinarily talented engingeering student at the University!
