Eileen Broster was born in London. She made her Royal Festival Hall debut at the age of sixteen with a performance of Grieg’s Piano Concerto. She studied at the Royal College of Music under Frank Merrick and Cyril Smith. Eileen has performed in London’s Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room, and at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms; she has performed concerti with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Mozart Players, BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic Orchestras and the Halle. She has also broadcast regularly for BBC Radio and performed in the presence of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Eileen’s repertoire has embraced the entire spectrum ranging from the earliest Baroque keyboard masters to contemporary composers whom she has championed, notably Ruth Gipps, who wrote works especially for her.

Eileen has taught generations of pianists, through her work with London Borough of Redbridge Music Service over twenty years, and at Dulwich College and Chigwell and Forest Schools. Many of her pupils have gone on to develop distinguished careers in music.

Hinde Street Methodist Church is the praying heart of the West London Mission which works extensively with vulnerable adults in the West End, providing safety and guidance to those afflicted by addiction, those who are living on the streets and men who have been released from prison. The current church dates from 1887 and was built by the Methodist architect James Weir. There will be a retiring collection for the work of West London Mission.
