Colchester Chamber Choir will soon complete a year’s worth of thrilling programmes of Italian, German, then French music, by turning their attention to British and American composers. Roderick Earle, the choir's Director was a choral scholar with the renowned St John’s College, Cambridge, before singing with the BBC Singers and the Monteverdi Choir. He subsequently became principal baritone with the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and Professor of Singing at the Royal College of Music. Roderick says that he is looking forward to a concert which includes many of the works that he sang in his choral days.

The concert in February will provide a stunning collection of the best in choral music, including some 8-part pieces, some for double choir, which include Samuel Barber’s popular Agnus Dei (transcribed from his famous Adagio for Strings). Another big favourite with choirs is O Magnum Mysterium, by the American Morten Lauridsen. Music by Walton, Stanford, Elgar, Harris, Howells and Holst help create an opulent programme, full of the rich and lush musical texture that thrills audiences across the world.
