Multi-saxophonist Simon Allen has recently been attracting attention for his work with Stan Tracey, having been a member of the Clark Tracey Quintet for seven years. Nowadays you can also find him in the BBC Big Band or Concert Orchestra, with Matthew Herbert, or accompanying the Royal Ballet. Our programmer thought his quintet’s album Any Minute Now to be the best British album of 2011.The rest of the band are all absolute aces and tonight promises an evening of burning top-quality jazz.
