Launching their new 2012-13 season Kaleidoscope, we have a perfectly evocative programme dedicated to the Northern hemisphere. Chosen by Jonathan Pryce CBE as his Discovery of the Year 2009 and described by the Sibelius Society as ‘thrilling’ (Edward Clark, 2011), we are unique in our specialisation in repertoire of composers born within the Northern Lights region.

Principal Conductor Adam Johnson is joined for this concert by award-winning soprano Caroline MacPhie for a selection of exquisite songs by Grieg representing this master of melody and the legend of Solveig. With Sibelius’s triumphant Karelia Suite, Grieg Songs for soprano and orchestra, and his extraordinary Peer Gynt incidental music (with projected images of the Aurora Borealis), this evening is a wonderful chance to enjoy and witness the Northern
