"A mixture of total abandonment and total control that is in no way contradictory" is how the Times describes Alina Ibragimova's playing. At home with music ancient and modern, this programme reflects the range of her skills, from Brahms's sonata, by turns lyrical and virtuosic, to Messiaen's Theme and Variations, written in 1932 as a wedding present for his first wife. Beethoven's joyful and optimistic sonata and Debussy's final work complete the evening.
