The internationally acclaimed soprano Felicity Lott is one of Britain's best known and best loved singers and has given performances in opera houses the world over under the batons of such notable conductors as Bernard Haitink, Carlos Kleiber and Georg Solti. She is an experienced recitalist after many years of singing with Graham Johnson, whom she met when they were students at the Royal Academy of Music, and her repertoire includes songs by Strauss, Schubert, Schumann, Wolf and Brahms as well as the masters of French Mélodies. As the title of this evening’s recital conveys, Felicity is also very fond of English songs, and in particular those of Benjamin Britten and Vaughan Williams. She has a particularly close association with the Wigmore Hall and in 2010 received the Wigmore Hall Medal for her significant contribution to the hall and her contribution to the advancement of the song recital as a concert-going experience throughout the world.

Winner of an accompaniment award at the end of his first undergraduate year at the Royal College of Music, Sebastian Wybrew has gone on to accompany many high profile singers. Following his first appearance with Felicity Lott, Simon Hoggart of The Guardian wrote “At first we had a short concert, with Dame Felicity Lott, who was gorgeous and generally all-round fabulous, accompanied on the piano by a young man called Sebastian Wybrew, of whom we will hear more.”
