Gintaras Janusevicius was born 1985 in Moscow, to a family of musicians. In 1987 he moved to Klaipeda, Lithuania, together with his family. He started playing piano at the age of four at Eduardas Balsys Gymnasium of Arts. 1992-2003 he studied at the Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis Gymnasium of Arts (presently National M.K.Ciurlionis National Art School) with Vale Kulikauskiene (1992-1998) and Jurgis Bialobzeskis (1998-2003), with whom he continued his studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (2003-2005). 2004-2011 Gintaras studied at the Hanover Academy of Music, Drama and Medias with one of the most famous Russian professors Vladimir Krainev. Since October 2011 he is the student of Professor Bernd Goetzke, pupil of Arturo Benedetti-Michelangeli.

Gintaras was awarded 1st Prize at the international "Rotary Club Palma de Mallorca" competition in 2010. Same year he won prizes at the 16th International Pinerolo Piano Competition, International Piano Competition "New Stars" in Wernigerode, Germany and at the XIX International Ibiza Piano Competition. In 2002 he won the Grand Prix at the International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition, Estonia. In 2007 the pianist won III Prizes at the M.K.Ciurlionis Piano Competition and Piano Campus competition in France, where he also was awarded three additional Prizes (Orchestra Prize, Audience Choice and Best Performance of an obligatory piece). He was awarded finalist’s diplomas at Montreal Piano Competition in Canada, 2004, and Tallinn Piano Competition in Estonia, 2006. Recently he won the Chopin Society piano competition in Hanover (April 2011).

Gintaras has been giving concerts in Lithuania, Russia, Poland, Estonia, Germany, France, Spain, Moldova, Romania, Canada, Japan, China and Ireland.

Among his concerts are performances at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Sala Mozart of Zaragoza, Estonia Hall in Tallinn, Duszniki zdroj in Poland, Lithuanian National Philharmony, Chisinau National Philharmony, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Capitulation Hall of Berlin-Karlshorst, Sverdlovsk Philarmony, Salle Cortot in Paris, etc. He has performed various orchestras, among others with the Lithuanian State Symphony, Moscow State Symphony, Lithuanian National Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Shenzhen Symphony, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Symphony, Yekaterinburg Symphony, Chisinau Symphony, Transylvania Symphony etc., conducted by Salvador Brotons, Fuat Mansurov, Gintaras Rinkevicius, Juozas Domarkas, Saulius Sondeckis, Jacques Lacombe, Pavel Berman, Dmitry Liss, Mihai Agafita, Modestas Pitrenas etc.

Gintaras Janusevicius constantly performs in various festivals, among them- Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdroj, Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Pazaislis Music Festival, Braunschweiger Classix, Festival Besancon, Great Musicians'Parade etc. He enjoys performing in various chamber ensembles. His partners include Elsbeth Moser, Leonid Gorokhov, Ciurlionis Quartet, Mariusz Patyra, Adam Kostecki, Alexander Paley, Ekaterina Mechetina, Marc Pierre Toth, Solenne Paidassi etc.

Gintaras is frequently invited to lead master classes in University of Shenzhen, Musical Academies of Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Chisinau (Moldova), Haifa (Israel) etc. In 2003 Gintaras was elected Lithuanian “Starlet of the Year”. In 2008 Gintaras became an Artistic Director of the "Plathner's Eleven" concert series in Germany.
