Hazel Grove Orchestra presents a summer concert of popular and well loved music. The concert includes the delightful 'A Children's Overture' by Roger Quilter, one of his most successful light orchestral music composed in 1919 for the Promenade Concerts. The overture was inspired by Walter Crane's illustrated book of nursery rhymes and includes well loved songs such as Baa Baa Black Sheep, Over the Hills and Far Away, I Saw Three Ships, Girls and Boys Come Out to Play and many more.

The Music for the Royal Fireworks was commissioned for and performed at a ceremony on April 27, 1749 celebrating the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle in October, 1748. We are performing the lyrical Siciliana 'La Paix' arranged for full symphony orchestra.

The orchestra's own Emma-Lee Vernon will be the soloist in the sunny and song-like Romance in F for Violin and Orchestra by Beethoven.

The concert concludes with Beethoven's joyful Pastoral Symphony which embodies Beethoven's love of Nature and the countryside.
