Perfect fifth - Believe it or not the Sacconi Festival has reached the grand old age of 5! So to celebrate, this year we are bringing what we think is the 5th Element to Folkestone – Music! Yes, we’re bringing 5 alive with a glut of 5tets and 5somes! We hope you agree this year’s programme combines to make the Quintessential music festival!

Haydn’s witty, energising G major string quartet opens this final concert. To follow this, Matthew Hunt joins the Sacconis to perform Brahms’s clarinet 5tet. Written in 1891, late in Brahms’s life, this is one of the gems of the 5tet repertoire. We come back home to Elgar in the second half, with one of his final and most beautiful works.
