Winchester Chamber Music Festival 2012 - Masterclass

Sunday April 22, 2012 at 11:30
Discovery Centre, Winchester
Free admission – no ticket required

The London Bridge Ensemble celebrates their fifth chamber music festival with masterpieces of the repertoire alongside a few rarer gems. A star line-up of special guests including cellist Alice Neary, Swedish violinist/violist Malin Broman and violinist/violist David Adams join us for performances throughout the weekend.

The London Bridge Ensemble is one of Britain’s most exciting and brilliant chamber groups and this is their fifth Winchester Chamber Music Festival. The name London Bridge Ensemble represents the group's special ability to bring together different musical genres and styles as well as an admiration for the English music of the early twentieth century. They have recorded two CDs of works by Frank Bridge for Dutton as well as a recording of Schumann for Sonimage, all of which have been highly praised by the critics; the ensemble’s second Bridge disc was shortlisted for the Gramophone Chamber Music Award 2011. Their next release, also on Sonimage, features works by Fauré. This year, in addition to their festival, the Ensemble appears at Wigmore Hall and Kings Place, London and performs the Schubert piano trios as part of a series of study events with musicologist Richard Wigmore.

*This concert is a masterclass with budding young local musicians, including the Hampshire String Quartet
