Lawrence Power is one of the foremost violists today and in 2011 was shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award. He is regularly invited to perform with some of the world’s greatest orchestras. The 2011/12 season sees Lawrence become Artist in Residence with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as a series of concerts with Camerata Salzburg performing Penderecki’s Viola Concerto, conducted by the composer. He also continues his relationship with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, performing Turnage’s On Opened Ground conducted by Markus Stenz, Walton’s Viola Concerto conducted by Vladimir Jurowski and then a new commission by James Macmillan in 2013/14. 2011 will see his orchestral debuts in Australia and in 2012 he will perform Harold in Italy with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Sir Mark Elder. He also makes a return to the Verbier Festival in 2012.

The Hattori Foundation was established as an Educational Trust by the Hattori Family and granted charity status in 1992. The aim of the Foundation in the field of music is to encourage and assist exceptionally talented young instrumental soloists or chamber ensembles aged 15-27 who are British Nationals or resident in the UK and whose talent and achievements give promise of an international career.

Since 2009, the Hattori Foundation offers one or more of its award winners a concerto debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the discretion of the Trustees and the orchestra.

Ticketholders are warmly invited to join the artists in the Club's exclusive bar after the performance.
