Winchester Music Club's 87th season opens with this concert featuring Verdi's Requiem and a newly commissioned work by William Cole - 'I Died for Beauty'. Verdi's Requiem was a great success when first performed in 1874 and remains a huge favourite with contemporary audiences. Winchester Music Club commissioned a new work from young composer William Cole and it is pround to present the first performance of the work ‘I Died for Beauty’ inspired by the poem by Emily Dickinson.
