If you’ve never heard the Jerusalem String Quartet before, this is your moment to discover what The Strad calls ‘one of the young yet great quartets of our time’. They open a treasure trove of chamber music by Schumann who created some of his most inspired work by uniting his own instrument – the piano – with strings.

BBC Music magazine’s Editor, Oliver Condy, recommends today’s concert: “The Jerusalem String Quartet are – I feel I should mention – winners of two BBC Music Magazine Awards. And pianist Alexander Melnikov has just been nominated for this year’s awards. So, quality guaranteed, it seems.”
