St Mary & St Giles Church Organ Refurbishment Appeal Group present another Gala Concert.

The centre piece of our concert is the Allegri Miserere mei and it will be exciting because the semi-chorus with the soprano who sings the top Cs will be singing from the gallery above and behind the audience. Make sure you arrive in time to get a seat in the middle of our church.

Our varied programme includes music for flute played by James Westlake and he hopes to take part in the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition 2012. The choral group Quorum will be singing a sequence of music for Holy Week by Tomas Luis de Victoria and this year is the 400th anniversary of his death. And if that's not enough you will be able to hear the Bach Toccata and Fugue in D minor and the Widor Toccata. However, there's a but! But our 3 manual Willis Pipe organ that we are striving to refurbish is now being refurbished and you will hear the organ solos performed on an electric organ. There will certainly be more concerts when this work is complete so you will be able to come to those concerts and compare the sound of an electric organ and our Fr Willis. Students from The Milton Keynes Music Service will play baroque dances for string and woodwind ensembles and two choirs, Andante and The Orpheran Singers will sing contrasting choral music.

Refreshments will be served. Those of you who have been to our recent concerts will be pleased to know that work on our new church hall with toilet facilities is now complete so you won't need to visit the local pub for a loo!

All in all, a varied programme with something for everyone and we look forward to seeing you there.
