  1. The Dragon of Wantley - John Frederick Lampe

Wantley village near Sheffield is terrorised by a child-gobbling dragon, and local hero Moore of Moorehall is entreated to put his drinking and womanising aside to take matters in hand. His methods are unorthodox to say the least…

This delightful Handel pastiche is a pantomime romp, accompanied by baroque orchestra and fully staged in the fabulous Victorian-era Normansfield Theatre.

How can anyone resist the subtle (?) charms of
"Sure my stays will burst with sobbing,
And my heart quite crack with throbbing,
My poor eyes are red as ferrets,
And I han't a grain of spirits."

or

"Sing, sing, and rorio, an oratorio"? [not a typo]
