Valery Gergiev brings his prized Mariinsky Orchestra to Cadogan Hall for a pair of concerts celebrating the best upcoming talent and marking the 150th anniversary of Berlioz's death. Each date features a different soloist winner from the [restigious XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition of wich Gergiev is Co-Chair. Elsewhere the programme highlights the dramatic capabilities of the Mariinsky Orchestra, with Rimsky-Korsakov operas, excerpts from Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet, and a full performance of his ode to the life of the artist and unrequited love, Symphony fantastique.
