Paul Carr’s lyrical and moving Requiem for an Angel is the highlight of this concert, together with choral favourite Cantique de Jean Racine by Fauré, and Stanford's Magnificat in G with its soaring soprano solo.

Carr's Requiem combines some of the traditional mass with other literary sources, including text St.Teresa of Avila and a love poem by the American poet Jack Larson, bringing a fresh contemporary approach that is proving popular with choral societies.

There will be a retiring collection in aid of Cancer Research UK.
