Phoenix Choir of Crawley is delighted to present their local concert 'Magical Mozart', featuring two of Mozart's best loved major works in support of local charity, St Catherine's Hospice.

The Coronation Mass was composed in Salzburg in the earler part of Mozart's career. It is thought to have acquired its name following a performance conducted by Antonio Salieri in 1791 in Prague at the coronation of Leopold II as King of Bohemia. It rapidly became popular at court for royal and imperial coronations as well as services of thanksgiving and Easter for its joyous and celebratory character.

Mozart wrote the Requiem (completed by Suessmayr) in his final days of life, leaving as an epitaph a choral masterpiece of sublime majesty and beauty.
