The Cardinal Quartet is a newly formed UK ensemble made up of friends brought together by the 2017 Verbier Festival. Members Theodor Küng, Mary Brace, Jill Valentine and Raphael Lang hail from Switzerland, Australia, France and the United States, but all call London home. Individually the Cardinal Quartet’s members have received accolades from the Royal Academy of Music, Cambridge University, Rice University and the silver medal at the Music Teachers National Association National Chamber Music Competition (USA), and given solo performances with the National Repertory Orchestra (USA), Ensemble Eroica, Silk Street Sinfonia (UK) and the Cambridge University Symphony Orchestra, among others.

The group looks forward to concerts, competitions and tours in the UK and Switzerland together in 2018. The foremost purpose of this ensemble is for its members to enjoy the breadth of repertoire written for the string quartet amidst busy orchestral careers, and to share the quartet repertoire with others whenever possible.
