  1. The Pirates of Penzance (or The Slave of Duty) - Gilbert and Sullivan

Following many hits at Greenwich Theatre and the great success of previous shows at Blackheath Halls, The Centenary Company brings to The Albany, Deptford, a fully-staged production of The Pirates of Penzance, the show that makes Roger jolly! Directed by Jerry Pinel, with Elinor Corp as Music Director, this is the same creative team responsible for the Company’s inventive stagings of Gilbert and Sullivan operas at Greenwich Theatre. Featuring well-bred buccaneers, defiant damsels and cowardly coppers, with live orchestra, The Centenary Company is delighted to be performing at The Albany for the first time.

They may not be terribly successful, but the pirates of Penzance have impeccable manners: they think it's unsporting to attack anyone weaker than themselves, and their first thought after capturing a group of beautiful young ladies is to propose marriage en masse. But when they discover they've been tricked into letting their captives go free, they plan a grisly revenge... Can the cream of Cornwall's constabulary defeat them? Will true love triumph? And what is the pirates' guilty secret?

Gilbert and Sullivan's masterpiece combines inspired silliness with much-loved songs including 'I am the very modern of a modern Major-General', 'With catlike tread' and 'A policeman's lot is not a happy one'.
