Giulia Grassi is a classical pianist interested in researching the connections between different musical cultures.

As a soloist and in chamber ensembles Giulia has performed in Italy, Hungary, UK and China at venues including Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Trasimeno Music Festival and Millenaris Theatre. Giulia’s interest in a wide range of music styles brought her to collaborate with the folk musician Francesco Berrafato, with whom she founded Duœnde, a contemporary project that aims to find a common language between classical and folk music through both the arrangement of classical and folk pieces and the composition of original repertoire.

After graduating at Cherubini Conservatory (Florence) with honours and attending international masterclasses with pianists such as Robert Levin, Dmitri Bashkirov and Aldo Ciccolini, Giulia is continuing her studies at the Royal College of Music with Norma Fisher. Giulia also studies classical and modern improvisation with the organist Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin and the saxophonist and singer Claudia Bombardella.

In 2015 Giulia founded Made in Music, a not for profit organisation that aims to create opportunities for young artists. Made in Music organised two music festivals and in both Giulia was the Artistic Director, whilst also performing as a soloist and in chamber ensembles.
