Visiting Saffron Hall for the first time, Welsh National Opera Orchestra is delighted to bring an exciting concert programme from the world of opera and the stage. Long associated with Welsh National Opera, renowned Welsh tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones has sung at major international opera houses including the Metropolitan in New York, the Chicago Lyric, in London with ENO and the Royal Opera House, as well as in Paris, Lyon and Brussels. Gwyn joins the Orchestra for an evening of operatic highlights, programmed to feature the very best of the tenor voice alongside this extremely versatile and well-regarded ensemble.

Orchestral overtures and interludes share the programme with arias from Puccini (including Tosca and Manon Lescaut), Verdi (Aida), Bizet (Carmen),the particular operatic favourite ‘Vesti la giubba’ from I Pagliacci by Leoncavallo, the Mario Lanza classic ‘Because you’re mine’ and maybe the odd Neopolitan song! This promises to be a dramatic and delightful way to spend a summer evening.
