  1. Serse, 'Xerxes' HWV 40 - George Frideric Handel

Byre Opera’s production offers a contemporary take on Handel’s classic tragicomedy, sung in Nicholas Hytner’s English translation reuniting the director-and-designer team of Tania Holland Williams and Gregor Donnelly who collaborated so successfully on The Turn of the Screw for Byre Opera in 2016. The performances feature a period-instrument orchestra led by the Fitzwilliam String Quartet and conducted by Michael Downes.
