  1. Serenade for tenor, horn and strings Op 31 - Benjamin Britten
  2. O magnum mysterium - Morten Lauridsen
  3. Carmina Burana - Carl Orff

A summer concert of contrasts! Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana has been described as the most frequently performed choral work of the 21st century. The songs (Carmina) are based on a collection of 13th century songs and poems written in a mixture of Latin, German and medieval French celebrating life, love, nature and the joys of the tavern!

Morten Lauriden’s O magnum mysterium has at its heart the Christmas story and is a choral work of ethereal harmonies of great beauty. Britten’s Serenade for tenor, horn and strings is a song cycle with settings of 6 poems by British poets on the subject of night, framed by a prologue and epilogue for Horn only. We will, as usual, be under the baton of Michael Cayton.
