The boys of the London Oratory Schola give a seasonal concert of liturgical repertoire for the Feast of the Ascension. The sumptuous Missa Ascendens Christus by Spanish renaissance composer Tomas Luis da Victoria (c 1548-1611) is the centrepiece of the programme, and is complemented by a cappella Ascension motets by Peter Philips (c 1560-1628) and Sir Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924). In addition the Schola performs the magnificent 20th century setting of Viri Gallilei by Patrick Gowers (1936-2014).
