  1. Ramifications - György Ligeti
  2. Divertimento for string orchestra Sz 113 - Bela Bartók
  3. Metamorphosen - Richard Strauss

Principal players from London’s professional orchestras sit side-by-side outstanding students from London’s music colleges in a programme of masterpieces for strings.

Written at the end of the Second World War, Metamorphosen is an intensely emotional monument to cultural loss. Music from two giants of Hungarian music completes the evening, with Bartok’s folk inspired Divertimento and the constantly shifting patterns of Ligeti’s Ramifications.

Featuring principal players from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, London Sinfonietta, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
