City of London Sinfonia presents Brass in Brixton, part of its CLS Minis series: a spring series of miniature lunchtime and evening concerts, curated and performed by City of London Sinfonia musicians.
CLS Minis showcases our outstanding professional musicians in chamber music composed for strings, brass and wind instruments. Each concert allows you to experience live music closer than you can in a traditional classical concert, and our musicians bring their own insights and introductions.
Our evening performance at Queen Mary University of London (Mile End) features members of our brass section in chamber music written especially for brass. The programme, curated by Principal Trombone Dan Jenkins and Principal Trumpet Nick Betts, includes Canzonas and Sonatas by Gabrieli, Summertime by Gershwin, and Freeway written by our very own Principal Trombone, Dan Jenkins.
Mindfulness plays an integral role the concert: City of London Sinfonia violinist Ann Morfee leads a mindful meditation as part of the performance, using mindfulness techniques for the body and mind to help relieve stress and enhance the audience’s experience of the music.
This one-hour concert is ideal for people who need to relax after a long, hard day at work and for people who want to experience something different.
