Emotional words from times of distress surrounded by heavenly music. In memory of WWI 100, but exploring wider themes of human connection to conflict and loss, and the power of music.

Three intimate prayers by an anti-Nazi, German theologian whilst in prison near the end of WWII, Nelson Mandela’s powerful speech from the dock at the Rivonia trial, and a requiem written by Herbert Howells, which became the musical inspiration for Hymnus Paradisi, in memory of his son, whom he lost to polio in 1935.

The choral pieces are interpersed with poems, please see our website for details.
