For our spring concert Robert has programmed six works ranging from the very well known (Bizet's Carmen Suite and the Khachaturian Adagio from Spartacus) to the relatively undiscovered gem of Arensky's Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky, which will be played by the Crowthorne Symphony Orchestra strings. (We were introduced to this in a string workshop, and thought it deserved a wider audience!) The orchestra's wind section will present Stravinsky's Symphonies of Wind Instruments, conducted by Andrew Taylor, and the programme is completed with Bizet's L'Arlesienne Suite No 2, and the popular Karelia Suite by Sibelius.
