Initially studying at Chetham’s School of Music, Jonathan continued his musical education in France at the Conservatoire National Superior de Musique de Paris (CNSM) becoming the first British saxophonist to enter Claude Delangle’s world-famous saxophone class. Having recently graduated with masters degrees in both saxophone and chamber music with distinction, Jonathan is currently continuing his studies in London at the Royal College of Music as the Mills Williams Junior Fellow 2017/18 on the Artist Diploma course with Kyle Horch.

He has performed throughout Europe in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Grieg Hall and Philharmonie de Paris and has performed concertos with orchestras including the Slovenian Chamber Orchestra and Liverpool Mozart Orchestra. A keen promoter of contemporary music, Jonathan has collaborated with the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (IRCAM) and has premiered works by Betsy Jolas and Luis Naón.

Passionate about chamber music, Jonathan co-founded the Yendo Quartet. The saxophone group have been broadcast by Radio France on the programmes Generation Young Talent and Alla Breve and have recently released their first CD, Utópico. As Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music, Jonathan is leading a project with the aim of developing and exploring the saxophone’s mixed chamber music repertoire, through concerts and workshops during the course of the year.

Jonathan has received awards from the BBC Performing Arts Fund, the Laubach Masterclass and most recently was awarded a Maisie Lewis Award by The Musicians’ Company, a Star Award from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and a Senior Soloist award from the Hattori Foundation. Jonathan is a Help Musicians UK Ian Fleming Award holder, a Making Music Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist and a Countess of Munster Musical Trust Recital Scheme Artist.

London based Maltese pianist Christine Zerafa has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in various venues and festivals in Malta, the United States and across the United Kingdom. She has frequently appeared at major London venues including Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, St John Smith Square, St Martin in the Fields, and she has also performed live on BBC Radio 3. She has been recipient of various awards including the Bice Mizzi National Competition, RNCM Clifton Helliwell Prize, the RAM Scott Huxley prize for piano accompaniment, Schumann Lieder accompanist prize, the Eric Brough Prize and the John B McEwen Prize. Christine is a Park Lane Group Artist and a Tunnell Trust Artist.

Christine gained a Master of Music in solo performance from the Royal Northern College of Music where she studied with Norma Fisher and Paul Janes, after which she moved on to study with Andrea Lucchesini at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence. Having a great passion for collaboration with singers and instrumentalists, she then read for a Master of Music degree in piano accompaniment, which she recently completed with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music under the tuition of Michael Dussek, Malcolm Martineau and Ian Brown.

Christine is currently reading for a PhD in performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she is focusing on her role as a collaborative pianist through a series of live performances and recording projects. Christine has been kindly supported by the Malta Arts Scholarship, BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation, Janatha Stubbs Foundation, Silverstone Bursary, Royal Academy of Music and Gilling Family Scholarship.
