The Consone String Quartet play Haydn

Formed at the Royal College of Music in 2012, the Consone Quartet is dedicated to exploring Classical and early Romantic repertoire on period instruments. Winners of the 2016 Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Prize, Consone was awarded two prizes at York International Young Artists Competition in 2015, including a place on the EEEmerging Scheme in France. The quartet was recently selected to continue into the third and final year of the Eeemerging Scheme, which offers residencies in France and Slovenia, European concert engagements and a CD recording which will be released in the autumn of 2018.

Consone was selected to take part in the 2016/2017 Brighton Early Music Festival Live! Scheme and has since been re-invited to BREMF to present a programme wich was broadcast on BBC Radio 3. The quartet was recently selected as Concordia Foundation artists.

Consone has participated in several Chamber Studio public masterclasses at King’s Place with Richard Lester and Alasdair Beatson as well as a masterclass at Lake District Summer Music with Robert Cohen.

The quartet has collaborated with soprano Gillian Keith, clarinettists Vlad Weverbergh, Jane Booth and Colin Lawson, flautist Ashley Solomon, the Fitzwilliam String Quartet and members of the Hanover Band.

Past performances include a critically acclaimed Wigmore Hall debut and appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, York Early Music Festival, Buxton International Festival, Cadogan Hall, The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace and others. The group has performed in various European countries (France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Italy and the Czech Republic) and will be travelling to Bolivia in April 2018 to perform at the Misiones de Chiquitos Early Music Festival.

Other future engagements include a Bach weekend at Cheltenham Festival with Mahan Esfahani, Concerts d’été à St Germain, Geneva and a tour of the north of England and Scotland in 2019.
