This concert, featuring special guest ensemble The Marian Consort, explores the music of England’s first iconic composer, charting how his style developed to serve the fluctuating requirements of the four Monarchs under whom he served. In so doing, we follow a period of tremendous social and religious upheaval and trace the genesis of Anglican liturgical music.

Petros Singers is a well-regarded auditioned chamber choir with a reputation for high-quality singing and innovative programmes. We perform a wide-ranging and diverse repertoire, and collaborate with top-class orchestras and soloists in West and Central London.

Richard Bannan is a baritone, conductor and arranger. He sings with many of the country's leading vocal ensembles, including the Choir of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle where he is a lay clerk.

The Marian Consort (directed by Rory McCleery) takes its name from the Blessed Virgin Mary, a focus of religious devotion in the sacred music of all ages. A Gramophone Award-nominated and internationally renowned early music vocal ensemble, The Marian Consort is recognised for its dynamic freshness of approach and innovative presentation of a broad range of repertoire.
