Farnborough Symphony Orchestra's family concert is designed to appeal to music lovers of all ages and includes some varied and popular works, including film themes and pieces from the BBCs 'Ten Pieces' Project. Budding instrumentalists should enjoy the way that different instruments play the different characters in Peter and the Wolf, and we are particularly excited to welcome local actress, Katy Ashworth (as seen on CBeebies), to narrate this timeless classic. Well known for presenting the TV programme 'I can cook', Katy featured in the inaugural CBeebies prom at the Royal Albert Hall in 2014. Our very own leader Hollie Chapman will take the solo violin role in Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending (eight times voted the nation’s favourite in the Classic FM Hall of Fame) and if percussion is more your thing, the Mambo from West Side Story won’t disappoint, needing several players to swap between all the usual instruments and perhaps some more unusual ones!

The concert will take place at 14:30 so make sure you make a note of the start time. We look forward to welcoming you to an exciting afternoon of musical fun. If you are interested in learning more about some of the pieces have a look on the BBC Ten Pieces website, where you’ll find videos, MP3s and teaching resources.
