A short afternoon concert which features music from the first 100 years of the German Reformation, on its 500th anniversary. Martin Luther's Ninety-Five Theses were published on 31st October 1517; they were printed off and posted on church doors, as was the custom in Wittenberg University. What happenned next would nowadays be described as a Twitter storm - a pamphlet war enabled by the newly-invented printing press. But what happened to musical practices after the movement took hold? Come and discover in this whistle-stop tour. There is music by Martin Luther himself and his contemporaries and featuring works by Michael Praetorius and Heinrich Schütz.
