  1. Overture, from Beatrice and Benedict - Hector Berlioz
  2. Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra in A K622 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  3. Symphony No 1 in C minor Op 68 - Johannes Brahms

Hailed as one of the brightest British conducting talents since the emergence of the young Simon Rattle, Robin Ticciati has the ability to create a very special and exciting atmosphere in his music-making. At the centre of this programme, Mozart's heart-stoppingly beautiful Clarinet Concerto gives Hallé principal Lynsey Marsh a chance to display her virtuosity - as well as the velvety tones of the basset clarinet, the instrument for which the work was composed. Over twenty years in the making, Brahms's exhilarating First Symphony was a triumph at its first performance, taking the composer firmly out of the shadow of Beethoven. Berlioz's dashing overture to his Shakespearian opera is the perfect curtain-raiser to an unmissable concert.
