Frederic Bager is an award winning concert pianist. Currently a scholar at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studies with Ian Fountain, he is a beneficiary of the 'Kulturprozent' artists promotion programme of the Swiss retail company, Migros.

A student of Andrew Ball and scholar at the Royal College of Music, London, he completed his studies there in July 2016 with a First and, for his interpretation of Beethoven, he received the Kendall Taylor Prize.

Born in London in 1991, Frederic grew up in Switzerland. He began playing the piano at an early age, first studying privately, then at the Lausanne and Geneva conservatories.

In 2007 Frederic was awarded a scholarship to study with John Byrne at Wells Cathedral School, England. In 2009 he performed Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Wells Cathedral School Chamber Orchestra at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel in Greenwich, and then on tour of China and Hong Kong.

In 2010 he won the Moray Piano Competition in Elgin, Scotland, and was a keyboard finalist in the BBC Young Musician competition, broadcast on BBC Four television.

Frederic performs regularly across the United Kingdom, Switzerland and other countries. Always interested in bringing music to new audiences, in 2013 Frederic embarked on a tour of India offering chamber and solo piano music to enthusiastic audiences in Bombay, Goa, Calcutta, Bangalore and Pune.

Frederic Bager is a versatile accompanist. Whilst at the Royal College of Music he was chosen to take part in a weekend of masterclasses and concerts on Schubert Lieder given by the celebrated accompanist Roger Vignoles. He pursues his interest in song, notably accompanying Dame Felicity Lott in late 2016.

Frederic has formed successful duos with emerging artists, such as violinist William Dutton, flautist Jaymee Coonjobeeharry and cellist Constantin Macherel with whom, in January 2017, he gave a live concert of 20th century works for the Swiss radio channel Espace 2.
