English Music Concert

Join us for our exciting season finale, where we will be celebrating English music. We will be performing Purcell's Come ye sons of art, Vaughan Williams's In Windsor Forest and Rutter's Sprig of Thyme. In addition we will have the premiere concert performance of our suite of war poems. These five pieces were commissioned by Derby Bach Choir. We asked Derbyshire poets to write poems about World War one that could be set to music. These poems were then passed onto Derbyshire composers who have taken already emotive poems to another level of emotion.

Derby Bach Choir will be conducted by their Music Director, Richard Roddis and the organist will be Tom Corfield. They will be joined by professional soloists, including Clare Devine (soprano), Simon Hunt (countertenor) and Matthew Jordan (bass).

Tickets include a free summer drink and the beautiful grounds at Derby Grammar School will be available from 6pm for audience members who wish to bring a picnic to enjoy before the concert.
