Thaxted Festival: Choir Of St John’s College Cambridge

The Choir of St John’s College Cambridge is one of the finest collegiate choirs in the world. Its broadcasts and many recordings have made their rich, warm, distinctive sound well known. Recent tours have taken it to Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, the USA and most of the countries of Europe. We are delighted to see this outstanding choir return to Thaxted and to hear them in the acoustic of our beautiful church. Andrew Nethsingha has chosen a richly varied programme. The 16th century is represented by Byrd and two other composers. Haydn starts the second half, and there are works by modern British composers (including Britten, Vaughan Williams and the living composer Giles Swayne) both before and after the interval.
