  1. Il primo libro delle musiche - Francesca Caccini

Join us for a lively introduction to the life and times of Francesca Caccini, composer for the Medici Court, home to one of Italy’s most powerful families. Her one published collection, Il primo libro delle musiche, offers a glimpse into her methodologies as a composer and teacher, and is notable for the variety of its musical genres and vocal ornamentation.

In celebration of the 400th anniversary of the official approval by Cosimo II of Il primo libro, soprano Juliet Fraser and lutenist Jamie Akers present a selection of her rarely heard songs, alongside stories of her life told by musicologist Anna Beer.
