Verdi: Messa da Requiem | St George's Singers

We bring our Diamond Anniversary season to a thrilling close with Verdi’s choral masterpiece, his Messa da Requiem. Sometimes described as ‘Verdi’s greatest opera’, the Requiem is certainly theatrical, with its ?re-and brimstone vision of the Day of Judgment, virtuoso solos, and the waves of sound emanating from orchestra and chorus. But it is also a deeply moving and very personal response to the inevitability of death. Verdi insisted that the Requiem should be performed in a large space, preferably a church; the Monastery will be the ideal setting to hear and feel the power of this awe-inspiring work.
