Join Nonsuch Singers and our Musical Director Tom Bullard for this performance of Brahms's own arrangement of his Op 45 Requiem for choir, soloists and two pianists and one piano. Premiered in London in July 1871 and now sometimes known as the 'London version' (Londoner Fassung) the piano version more than holds its own alongside the more familiar orchestral version and certainly delivers in its drama, sweep and grandeur.

We supplement the Requiem with a number of a cappella works including Rheinberger's hauntingly beautiful Abendleid, Bruckner's motet Os Justi and Gabriel Jackson's Our flags are wafting in hope and grief based on a text by the Estonian poet Doris Kareva.

We look forward to welcoming you to the candlelit splendour of St Martin-in-the-Fields for this closing concert of our 40th anniversary season.
